Dreamforce’21 Day 2

Success = staying true to your values and impact other people in a positive way

Day 2 started with a special conversation with Salesforce Co-Founder and CTO, Parker Harris. During this chat, Parker was asked if he created salesforce today, what would be different, the answer isn’t as surprising, having spent more than 1 year and a half working remotely, he said: Just having a Digital HQ. He also talked about the Future of Work, some of the key topics were selling better, engineering better without losing culture and embracing where we are now. He also spoke about the origin of the Trailblazer community, and how it impacts everyone not only the professionally, but also personally.

Following Harris’ presentation, we heard from Salesforce’s VP of Product Management about the new Backup and Restore Solution. This new tool that has been developed, automatically creates copies of any critical data and lets the organizations restore that data easily. This comes hand in hand with the prioritization Salesforce has always given to data protection.

Then it was time for one of the guest speakers this year’s Dreamforce had: Will Smith. During this session, hosted by Salesforce’s SVP of Finance, Jessica Ross, Smith talked about “The Art of Transformation”. The actor discussed some of his experiences and how they helped him become who he is now. Smith said that he realized he needed to start creating content with a big impact in everyone and he talked about how he used humor as a way to grow, transform and improve.

Another big discussion on the main stage was “Black Women in Leadership”. This panel talked about Black excellence and what it meant to everyone, either freedom, solidarity or self care. All the panelists, that included San Francisco Mayor London Breed, award-winner Minda Harts and award-winner journalist Elaine Welteroth, agreed that while people are starting to discuss social issues, a lot of work still needs to be done. The panelists also discussed the obstacles that black women have professionally and the difficulty for black women to access leadership roles.

The last discussion of Day 2 was led by Gold Medalist, Aly Raisman and Paralimpian Blake Leeper. They shared their success stories as well as talked about the perseverance, courage and accountability one needs to achieve something. Another topic they talked about was how to be a leader in a global stage and the importance of winning as a team.
