Salesforce offers different guides on how to Install and set up everything for your Pardot Lightning App, but they are all in different places and some of them don’t talk about the most common issues you might encounter.
That’s why I decided to prepare this guide to consolidate everything in one place.
Install the Package and Enable Pardot
- Get the installation link.
- While the most common scenario is to have Pardot only in a Prod environment. There’s a sandbox link as well if needed.
- Review actions, and click Install.
- On Step 2 of the install wizard, select Grant access to admins only.
- From Marketing Setup, under Pardot Setup Home, click Assign Admin.
- Name your business unit and assign your Pardot admin.
- Save your changes.
- After you save, Pardot sends the Pardot admin an email to start the setup process for their business unit.
- From Marketing Setup under Pardot Setup Home, turn on Pardot in your Salesforce org to make the Pardot Lightning app available only to your Pardot admins.
Give Users Access to Pardot Lightning App
- Give users access to the Pardot connected app.
- From Salesforce Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Connected, and then select ManageConnected Apps.
- From the list, select b2bma_canvas.
- Click Manage Profiles or Manage Permission Sets to assign the connected app to users who need access to Pardot Lightning app.
- Assign the Account Engagement User, Sales Cloud User, Service Cloud User, or CRM User permission set.
- From Marketing Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Permission Sets, then select Account Engagement User, Sales Cloud User, Service Cloud User, or CRM User from the list.
- Click Manage Assignments.
- Click Add Assignments and choose all users who need access to Pardot Lightning app
- Make Pardot Lightning app visible to profiles.
- From Salesforce Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter App Manager, and then select App Manager.
- Find Pardot app with the App Type Lightning, and then edit it.
- Click User Profiles, and then select all profiles that need access to the app
Common App Problems
App opens with no visible Pardot tabs
In some cases, the Pardot tabs are created as hidden, so you need to navigate to the profile you want to update, e.g. System Admin and edit the tabs.
- Go to Setup
- Search and click on Profiles
- Select the desired profile
- Click on App Settings
- Verify the Tabs are on.

You don’t see the b2bma_canvas connected app
Confirm that you’re enabling the app in a production environment. The Pardot Lightning app isn’t available in developer or trial orgs. If you still don’t see the app, contact your Salesforce Account Executive.
Users get an error: “You don’t have permission to view application within namespace[b2bma] and API name [b2bma_canvas]”
Give users access to the connected app.
When users open the app, it doesn’t load
Make sure that your Salesforce-Pardot connector is verified and that you have connected your Pardot and Salesforce users.
Users don’t see the Pardot app in the App Launcher
Make sure that the Pardot Lightning app is enabled. Then, make sure that your users have the CRM User, Sales Cloud User, or Service Cloud User permission set.
