Pardot Discovery Questions

On your first Pardot discovery session, you want to get as much information as possible from your client so you can start planning what to suggest and what training sessions to give.

Here are some examples of questions I have used in the past.

Pardot Background

  • We want to understand what your needs are to help you so you can take advantage of every functionality Pardot offers
  • Are we installing Pardot in your org from scratch?
    • Are we handling Pardot Installation?
  • Which Pardot Edition did you purchase?
  • Did you purchase a Pardot Sandbox?
  • Have you used Pardot before?

Current Email Marketing Strategy

  • What and how you are using email marketing at the moment?
  • Which email marketing tool?
  • Can you show us some of the types of emails you currently send?
  • Types of forms you currently use and fields
  • Do you use email templates?
  • Do you use email automation?

Priming the System

  • Is your leads and contacts database the same as the leads and contacts you have in Salesforce?
  • We need to export leads/contacts from Salesforce and load them as prospects in Pardot with the CRM Id.
    • Do you have a list of prospects ready?
    • Do you want us to handle that?
  • Are you going to use AMPSEA? Same email for multiple leads/contacts? (allow multiple prospects same email)
  • Ask about data cleanliness in Salesforce
  • Is marketing content ready to be creating? Are you handling content creation or are we?
  • Connectors? E.g. Google Adwords, analytics, social media
  • What information you want to collect from your prospects? are those fields already in Salesforce?
  • Are you familiar with Salesforce Campaigns?
    • Way to bucket or group leads and contacts
    • Are you familiar with lead scoring and grading?
    • If so, do you have scoring rules and grading profiles ready to be implemented? Are we going to implement them or are you?

This list of questions can vary from client to client and keep in mind this is a list that will be changing as new Pardot features emerge.
